AM Best will sponsor the opening reception of the American Property Casualty Insurers Association’s (APCIA) Annual Meeting, to be held Oct. 20-22, 2019, in Boston, MA. Matthew C. Mosher, president and chief executive officer, A.M. Best Rating Services, Inc., will deliver remarks at the reception, which will take place on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m. (EDT).
AM Best also will host a session on Monday, Oct. 21, at 2:00 p.m. (EDT), titled, “Scoring and Assessing Innovation.” Leading the session will be Stefan Holzberger, senior managing director and chief rating officer, and Greg Williams, senior director. AM Best released a draft innovation criteria procedure in March 2019, and recently refined it to increase transparency further in light of industry feedback and to reflect ongoing internal review and analysis. In the session, the analysts will discuss AM Best’s plan for evaluating an insurer’s level of innovation and to what extent that evaluation ultimately will impact the measure of an insurer’s financial strength. The analysts also will provide an update on several industry issues AM Best will be addressing in the near- to mid-term, including its evaluation of insurers’ contingency plans in the event of the expiration of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (TRIPRA).
