FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OLDWICK - OCTOBER 09, 2020 08:40 AM (EDT)
AM Best will host a complimentary webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at 10 a.m. (CDT) to discuss the rating agency’s approach to country risk on companies in Latin America and globally. The COVID-19-driven economic volatility has heightened sovereign credit and country risk concerns. Although AM Best does not issue ratings on government debt, it considers such risks through its country risk analysis, which is factored into all Best’s Credit Ratings. As part of evaluating country risk, AM Best identifies the various factors within a country that may directly or indirectly affect an insurance company.
During the event, AM Best analysts will discuss how country risk is being applied to Best’s Credit Rating Methodology (BCRM) and Best’s Credit Ratings with respect to the economic downturn and hardened conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America, as well as the impacts on reinsurance companies operating in the region.
