2026 Best's Rankings: Prudential Moves Into Top Spot for Ordinary Life In Force
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. ordinary life in force rose 2.8% in 2025 to $38.66 trillion, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Prudential of America Group slid into the top spot after taking second place a year earlier with its $2.58 trillion in ordinary life in force up 12%, according to the report.
Northwestern Mutual Group, which was ranked No. 2, had a total of $2.47 trillion and an increase of 3.6%, according to the report. Northwestern had been first in the prior year.
The remainder of the top five was unchanged from 2025: No. 3 RGA Group had ordinary life in force of $2.42 trillion, an increase of 11.8%; No. 4 Swiss Re Life Group had $2.14 trillion, an increase of 3.7%; and fifth-place Scor Life US Group posted the only decline in the top five with $1.59 trillion, down 1.7%, according to the ranking.
No. 47 Symetra Life Group, which had $167.91 billion in ordinary life in force, posted the largest increase on a percent basis, with its total up by 25.8%, according to the report.
The report lists the top 100 companies or groups, along with their ranking in 2024 and 2025, their policies in force in 2025 and the percentage change over the prior year.
