AM Best Affirms Credit Ratings to Premia Reinsurance Ltd.

//BestWire// - AM Best has affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-” (Excellent) of Premia Reinsurance Ltd. (Premia Re) (Bermuda). The outlook of these Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable.
The ratings reflect Premia Re’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management.
The company’s operating returns deteriorated in 2025, due to adverse development recognized on its casualty business. While Premia Re did implement further strengthening in 2026, the bottom line results are expected to rebound following multiple strategic sales and closing of new legacy transactions. AM Best anticipates that the company’s results will continue to show improvement into 2027. Further deterioration in the near term could bring negative pressure on the ratings and/or outlooks.
