Best's Rankings: US Burglary & Theft Direct Premiums Written Increased 8.1%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The U.S. burglary and theft industry's direct premiums written increased 8.1% to $644.9 million in 2024, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Leading the list was Chubb INA Group, with DPW of $118.1 million, an increase of 49% from the prior year. Chubb, which moved up one spot on the ranking, held a 2024 market share of 18.3%, according to the data.
Travelers Group moved up one position to take the No. 2 spot, with its $77.1 million in DPW up 1.7% and a market share of 12%. Zurich Insurance PC Group fell to No. 3 from the top spot in 2023 as its $71.5 million dropped 20.9%. The carrier had a market share of 11.1%, according to the data.
No. 12 Shelter Insurance Cos. posted the largest percentage gain among the industry's top 25 carriers with DPW of $17.1 million in 2024 up 485.1% from a year earlier, according to the data.
The report ranks U.S. burglary and theft carriers and lists: Direct premiums written; percentage change; market share for 2024, 2023 and 2022; adjusted loss ratios for those three years; and the percent of company premiums the line accounts for.
