Arthur Snyder III was elected Chairman of the A.M. Best Company's Board of Directors on June 23, 2009. He now serves as Chairman and President of the company. He succeeds his father, Arthur Snyder Jr., Chairman Emeritus. A.M. Best is the world's largest insurance rating agency and publisher.
Arthur Snyder III was first appointed to the Board on July 21, 1987. On May 19, 2005, he was elected by the Board to serve as Secretary. In 2009, Mr. Snyder will have served 22 years as a Director, four years as Secretary.
Arthur Snyder III joined A.M. Best Company as a Senior Financial Analyst in 1982. Prior to that, he was a Senior Staff Auditor with the accounting firm Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Since joining the company, Mr. Snyder has held numerous management positions at A.M. Best, including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer. He was elected to the position of President on June 28, 2008.
Arthur Snyder III graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Snyder also graduated from Cornell University with master degrees in business and engineering.
