Best's Rankings: US Life Industry's Total Issued Decreased 2.7% in 2024
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. total life insurance business issued in 2024 fell 2.7% to $3.54 trillion, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
For the top 25 U.S. life carriers, the total issued fell 4.1% to $2.73 trillion. Among the top 50, that decrease was 2.8% to $3.3 trillion, according to the report.
MetLife Insurance Cos. retained its spot at the top of the list with its $358.22 billion in total life issued in 2024, down 30.3% from a year earlier. Lincoln Financial Group held onto the No. 2 position, even as its $188.79 billion in total life issued was down 18.6%. Northwestern Mutual Group kept third place with its $183.49 billion in total life issued down by 4.2%.
New York Life Group stayed at No. 4 with its $175.99 billion in total life issued up by 16.3%. Prudential of America Group remained in the No. 5 spot with its $157.22 billion in total life issued in 2024 up 14.6%, according to the data.
The Best’s Ranking report lists the top 100 U.S. life carriers by rank in 2024 and 2023, total life business issued and percent change.
