Best’s Rankings: US Disability Income Premiums for Accident, Health Contracts Down 10.8%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. life/health disability income premiums for accident and health contracts decreased 10.8% to $29.39 billion in 2024, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Among the top 25 and top 50 carriers, premiums were down 4.6% and 4.8%, respectively.
Unum Insurance Group retained the top spot with $4.16 billion in disability income premiums, a 3.6% increase from the year prior, according to the report.
Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. came in at No. 2 with $3.35 billion in premiums and was followed by MetLife Life Insurance Cos., $3.24 billion and New York Life Group, $2.59 billion.
Meiji Yasuda US Life Group broke into the top five this past year as its disability income premiums increased 5.9% to reach $2.26 billion.
