Best’s Rankings: Product Liability (Total) DPW Up 5.1% in 2024
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Direct premiums written in the United States product liability (total) insurance sector increased 5.1% in 2024, reaching $5.57 billion, according to a new Best's Ranking report.
While Chubb INA Group retained its top spot during 2024 with $589.7 million in DPW, an increase of 5.1%, the rest of the top-ranked carriers saw movement.
Hartford Insurance Group made the biggest move, leaping to No. 4 in 2024 from No. 9 the year prior. The company's 2024 DPW increased 18.7% to $259.0 million.
America International Group moved up to No. 2 in 2024 from No. 5 the year prior as DPW increased 34.1% to $324.1 million and W.R. Berkley Insurance Group moved up one spot to No. 3 with a 7% increase in DPW, which totaled $270.2 million this past year. Rounding out the top five was Allianz US PC Insurance Cos., which fell two spots to No. 5 with a 3.1% decrease in DPW.
Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. also dropped in the ranking, falling to No. 9 from No. 2 the year prior. The company's DPW declined 18.9% to total $216.7 million.
The report includes direct premium written, change in premiums, market share, adjusted loss ratio and percentage of the line in the company's overall business.
