2026 Best's Rankings: Swiss Re Makes Big Jump in List of Product Liability Claims-Made
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The U.S. property/casualty industry's 2025 products liability (claims-made) direct premiums written increased 8.4% to $962.9 million, with Chubb INA Group retaining the top spot on the list, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Chubb's DPW of $231.7 million increased 5.2%, and it held a market share in 2025 of 24.1% compared with 24.8% a year earlier, according to the ranking. No. 2 CNA Insurance Co. also held onto its position with 2025 DPW of $80.8 million, an increase of 4.1% and a market share of 8.4%.
Third-place Kinsale Insurance Co. also retained its spot on the ranking with DPW rising 1.6% in 2025 to $56.4 million, according to the ranking. Kinsale had a market share of 5.9% in 2025, down from 6.3% the prior year.
Fourth place Swiss Reinsurance Group jumped from No. 14 a year earlier with its DPW of $52.9 million in 2025 up by 161.3%, according to the report. It held a market share of 5.5% in 2025, more than double the 2.3% it held in 2024.
The two-page report ranks property/casualty writers by DPW and also includes: The percent change in premiums; market share for 2025, 2024 and 2023; adjusted loss ratios for those years and the percentage of company premiums the line accounts for.
