2026 Best's Rankings: US L/H Industry's Six-Month Admitted Assets Rose 3.9% to $10.28 Trillion
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The total U.S. life/health industry's admitted assets of $10.28 trillion at the midpoint of 2026 were up 3.9% over the preceding six months, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Prudential of America Group retained the top spot on the list, with its $625.9 billion in admitted assets as of June 30 up 3.2%, according to the ranking.
Second-place New York Life Group saw its admitted assets increase 4.7% to $502.58 billion, according to the ranking. MetLife Insurance Cos. took No. 3, with $441.32 billion up 2.5% over the six-month period.
Completing the top five were No. 4 Massachusetts Mutual Life Group with admitted assets of $421.84 billion down 0.3%, and No. 5 Northwestern Mutual Group, which had admitted assets of $413.24 billion and a growth of 3.5%, according to the ranking.
The only movement in top Top 10 carriers saw Athene US Life Group displace Lincoln Financial Group to take the eighth spot with its $380.04 billion in admitted assets up 9.3%. Lincoln Financial's admitted assets of $358. 81 billion were up by 6.7%, according to the data.
The three-page AM Best ranking measures admitted assets as of June 30, along with the change on a percentage basis.
