Rockford Mutual Former President and CEO Retires After 40-Year Career
ROCKFORD, Ill. //BestWire// - Rockford Mutual said Kent Shantz, former president and chief executive officer and acting executive consultant, has retired.
Kent Shantz Shantz joined the company in 2012 as vice president of operations, with over 30 years of insurance management experience in marketing, underwriting and claims. He advanced into a chief operations officer position in 2013, only to progress a few short years later to the organization’s president and CEO in 2017. In November 2023, Shantz stepped down from his duties as CEO and has acted as an executive consultant to the company’s executive team in preparation for his retirement, according to a company statement.
Shantz made significant strides in transforming RMIC during his tenure, including expanding the company’s commercial appetite tremendously, helping to create an inclusive, diverse, and supported award-winning workplace, and being the driving force behind the company’s current technology and rating platform, the company said.
With over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, Shantz also plans to invest his knowledge and expertise into his own consulting company, Kirtland Consulting Services LLC, based out of Florida, according to the company.
In November, Rockford Mutual appointed Rob Jacobson to succeed Shantz as president and CEO (BestWire, Nov. 3, 2023).
Rockford Mutual Insurance Co. has a current Best’s Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent).
