Best’s Rankings: DPW Up 6.4% for US Medical Professional Liability Claims Made
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. carriers writing medical professional liability (claims made) saw direct premiums written increase 6.4% to $10.16 billion in 2024, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Berkshire Hathaway Insurance was again the top carrier in this market and saw DPW rise 2.8% to reach $1.34 billion this past year. The company held a 13.1% market share.
The Doctors Co. Insurance Group retained the No. 2 spot, with DPW increasing 4.4% to total $858.5 million. No. 3 ProAssurance Group had a 2.6% decline and DPW settled at $618.3 million, No. 4 MAG Mutual Cos. saw DPW increase 2.9% to reach $518.2 million and No. 5 CNA Insurance Cos. had a 6.9% increase and DPW totaled $459.1 million.
Among the top 10 carriers, Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos., saw the biggest rise in DPW, which was up 26.7% and totaled $334 million.
