Best's Rankings: Talcott Resolution Leaps Into Top Spot in 2025 List of Premiums for Life Contracts
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. individual annuities premiums for life contracts increased 7.8% in 2025 to $287.18 billion, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Talcott Resolution Group took the top spot on the list, jumping up from No. 59 in the prior year, according to the report. Talcott had premiums of $27.74 billion in 2025, which the report said jumped 999.9%.
No. 2 ranked New York Life Group was the only carrier in the top 25 to hold the same rank it did in the prior year. Its premiums for life contracts of $24.29 billion was up 19.7%, according to the report.
Completing the top five were No. 3 Nationwide Life Group, which rose from No. 5 in 2024 with premiums of $21.56 billion up 28%, according to the report. Allianz Life Insurance Group fell to fourth place in the 2025 ranking from first in the prior year as its $20.54 billion in premiums for life contracts fell 1.4%, according to the data. Jackson National Life Group fell to No. 5 from fourth in 2024 with premiums of $19.91 billion, up by 14.2%
National Life Group moved into the 23rd ranking and American National Insurance Cos. took 24th place as they increased dramatically from 468 and 469, respectively, in the prior year.
The ranking lists individual annuities premiums for 2025 and the percent change from the prior year.
