Best’s Rankings: US Homeowners Multiperil Direct Premiums Written Rise 8.4%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The top 10 U.S. homeowners multiperil insurers preserved their positions from the previous year, while No. 14 Citizens Property Insurance Corp. rose 10 places, according to a new Best’s Ranking.
Homeowners MultiperilTotal 2021 direct premiums written for the U.S. homeowners insurance market was $119.80 billion, up 8.4% from the previous year.
Total DPW for the top 100 U.S. homeowners insurance writers was $114.05 billion in 2021, up 8.9%. Total DPW for the top 25 writers was $92.84 billion, up 9.4%.
DPW for top-ranked State Farm Group rose 11.8% to $22.05 billion, while DPW for second-ranked Allstate Insurance Group rose 7.4% to $10.50 billion and that for No. 3 Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. rose 10.2% to $8.38 billion.
The report measures 2021 DPW for the top 100 U.S. homeowners insurers and the percent change from the previous year. The information for each company or group in this study also includes market share and adjusted loss ratios for 2021, 2020 and 2019 and homeowners insurance as a percentage of the company’s total premiums.
