2026 Best's Rankings: US P/C Net Premiums Written Up 1.7% Through Six Months

OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. property/casualty net premiums written grew 1.7% to $502.94 billion in the first half of the year, according to a new Best's Rankings report.



The top 14 writers remained the same, led by No. 1 State Farm Group, which increased its NPW 1.1% to $57.10 billion. The top 10 insurers each saw increases in their NPW.

No. 2 Progressive Insurance Group saw its NPW increase 5.8% to $44.72 billion, and No. 3 Berkshire Hathaway Insurance increased its NPW 1.3% to $41.38 billion. Allstate Insurance Group's 0.7% increase helped it hold onto its spot at No. 4 with $28.32 billion NPW. Rounding out the top five was Travelers Group with $21.59 billion, a 3.0% increase.

The largest increase in the top 15 belonged to American International Group, which moved up one spot from No. 16 with a 14.4% increase to $7.20 billion. There were no significant decreases in the top 25, but Everest Re US Group's 21.4% drop to $3.60 billion knocked it down five spots, from No. 21 to No. 26.
