Best's Rankings: US Accident & Health Premiums Contracts Rose 6.8% in 2023
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S accident & health premiums contracts rose 6.8% for the total life/health industry in 2023 as the top 10 writers maintained their position from the previous year, according to a new Best's Ranking report.
The total industry premiums contracts rose to $202.91 billion. For the top 100 writers, premiums contracts rose 7.0% to $202.02 billion. The figure rose 7.9% to $181.67 billion for the top 25 writers.
The top 10 A&H writers all maintained their position from the previous year. Top-ranked UnitedHealth Life Cos. saw its premiums contracts rise 6.8% to $47.31 billion. Second-ranked Aetna Life Group's contracts rose 18.2% to $36.51 billion, and No. 3 Cigna Life Group's contracts rose 10.5% to $27.64 billion.
Among the top gainers in 2023, RGA Group rose to No. 28 from No. 487, Medical Mutual of Ohio L&H Group rose to No. 66 from No. 120, and Prosperity Life Group rose to No. 85 from No. 106.
The ranking includes A&H premiums contracts totals for 2023 and 2022 and percentage change.
