Best's Rankings: US All Other Lines Direct Premiums Written Increased 2.4%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The U.S. property/casualty industry saw all other lines direct premiums written increase 2.4% in 2024 to reach $120.51 billion, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. retained the top spot on the ranking, with direct premiums written of $6.66 billion, which fell by 0.6% from a year earlier, according to the report. Chubb INA Group climbed one spot to No. 2, with DPW of $5.68 billion in 2024, up 3.8% from 2023.
No. 3 Travelers Group saw DPW rise 0.2% to $5.49 billion. Travelers fell one spot in the ranking.
Rounding out the top five was fourth-place Zurich Insurance PC Group, which had DPW of $4.78 billion in 2024, up by 0.3%. Fifth-place CNA Insurance Cos. notched the largest percentage drop among the top 20 carriers, with its $4.41 billion in DPW written in 2024 down by 3%.
Allianz US PC Insurance Cos, which climbed up one spot to No. 9, registered the largest percentage gain in the top 25 carriers with DPW of $3.45 billion up by 15.2%.
The three-page report ranks carriers by direct premiums written, and list: Percentage change from the prior year; market share for 2022, 2023 and 2024; adjusted loss ratios for the same three years; and the percentage of company premiums.
