Best’s Rankings: US P/C Disability Income Premiums Down 3.2% in 2024
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Direct premiums written by U.S. property/casualty disability income insurers declined 3.2% to $299.3 million in 2024, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Changes in DPW among the 14 ranked carriers showed wide disparities, with seven carriers seeing premiums decline, four reporting triple-digit increases and one recording flat results.
State Farm Group moved up a spot to No. 1 despite a 2.1% drop in DPW to $115.4 million.
Chubb INA Group saw DPW increase 596.8% to reach $2.4 million, as the company moved up one spot this year to No. 6. Also seeing large increases in DPW were No. 4 Sentry Insurance Group, up 213.8% to $10.6 million in DPW; No. 7 Berkshire Hathaway Insurance, up 224.6% to $1.3 million; and No. 9 Nationwide P&C Group, up 120% to $44,000, according to the ranking.
American Family Insurance Group, which ranked No. 13, saw the biggest decline in DPW, which fell 25% to $3,000, according to the ranking.
