Best's Rankings: US Homeowners Multiperil Direct Premiums Up 9.1% in 2025
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. homeowners multiple peril direct premiums written increased 9.1% in 2025 to $188.87 billion, according to a new Best’s Rankings report.
The top eight writers maintained their spot in the rankings, led by No. 1 State Farm Group, which rode a 12.1% increase to reach $35.27 billion DPW.
The top three insurers each saw double-digit increases. No. 2 Allstate Insurance Group saw a 14.7% increase to $17.77 billion. An 11.3% increase helped No. 3 USAA Group climb to $13.26 billion.
At No. 4, Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. was the only insurer in this year's top 10 to see a decrease, falling 2.0% to $10.40 billion. Rounding out the top five was No. 5 Farmers Insurance Group, which saw an 8.3% increase to $10.31 billion.
The largest increase in the top 10 belonged to Auto-Owners Insurance Group, which used a 20.5% increase to $4.14 billion to climb one spot, to No. 9. Erie Insurance Group moved into the top 10, assuming the No. 10 position after an 11.5% increase to $3.71 billion.
The report includes rankings based on DPW, percentage change, market share, adjusted loss ratios for three years and the percentage of company premium written for the line.
