2026 Best's Rankings: Voya Seizes Top Spot Among US Life/Health Group Annuity Insurers By 2025 Premium Contracts
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Voya Financial Group moved up three spots to assume the top spot among U.S. life/health group annuity insurers by premium contracts, according to a new Best’s Rankings report. Data is based on 2025 numbers.
Voya’s 207.5% increase to $40.8 billion was the largest among the top 20 insurers and propelled it to No. 1 from No. 4. That increase came despite the overall industry suffering a 5.6% decrease to $155 billion. Eight of the top 20 insurers saw decreases, including the top two companies in last year’s rankings.
Last year’s No. 1, Prudential of America Group, fell to No. 2 after a 43.5% decrease to $23.3 billion. Aegon USA Group fell to No. 3 from No. 2 on an 8.2% decrease to $14.2 billion.
The largest decrease belonged to Oneamerica Group, which saw a 76.5% drop to $1.1 billion, dropping it to No. 20 from No. 10.
John Hancock Life Insurance Groups saw a slight 0.8% increase to $13.8 billion, but still fell one spot, to No. 4 from No. 3. Teachers Insurance & Annuity Assurance of America was the only top five insurer to stay put, holding onto the No. 5 position after an 8.8% increase to $13.4 billion.
