Best's Rankings 2026: US Accident/Health Premiums Contracts Fell 12.3% in 2025
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Premiums for U.S. life/health accident & health insurers ranked by 2025 premiums contracts fell 12.3% to $191.69 billion in 2025.
For the top 100 insurers, premiums contracts fell 11.6% to $194.16 billion. The top 25 writers saw premiums contracts fall 12.2% to $175.20 billion.
UnitedHeath Life Companies maintained its top spot, although premiums contracts fell 4.0% from the previous year to $54.48 billion.
Aetna Life Group retained its second-place rank as its premiums contracts rose 10.5% to $46.66 billion. MetLife Life Insurance Cos. rose to No. 3 from No. 4 as its premiums contracts rose 4.6% to $9.77 billion.
Unum Insurance Group saw the biggest drop in premiums contracts among the top 10, down 20.8% to $4.97 billion, as it slid to No. 7 from No. 6.
Lincoln Financial Group rose in rank to No. 13 from No. 469 as its premiums contracts rose 287.3%.
