2026 Best's Rankings: Most Top 10 US Directors & Officers Monoline Writers Lost DPW in 2025
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The top-10 insurers in a new Best's Ranking of United States property/casualty writers ranked by 2025 directors and officers monoline policies direct premiums written remained atop the ranking although seven of them saw DPW declines, compared with the previous year.
U.S. P/C industry DPW for monoline D&O for 2025 totaled $10.24 billion, down 5.4% from the previous year.
For the top 50 writers, DPW fell 5.5% to $10.20 billion. The top 25 writers saw DPW decline 6.2% to $9.19 billion.
Chubb INA Group kept the top spot even as its 2025 DPW fell 2.6% to $934.7 million.
All of the top five writers saw DPW declines, with No. 4 American International Group falling 17.3% as it lost its No. 2 status. Tokio Marine US PC Group retained its No. 5 rank although its DPW fell 22.2%.
Berkshire Hathaway Insurance moved up to No. 2 from No. 4 although its DPW fell 5.8%. XL American Cos. remained at No. 3 as its DPW fell 9.0%.
