2026 Best's Rankings: US Private Passenger Auto No-Fault DPW Fell 1.5% Last Year

OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The industry’s U.S. private passenger automobile no fault insurance 2025 direct premiums written declined 1.5% to $18.12 billion, according to a new Best’s Rankings report.

The top five no fault auto writers all maintained their positions from the previous year, with No. 1-placed Progressive Insurance Group's DPW rising 6.8% to $3.81 billion in 2025.

Second place Berkshire Hathaway Insurance’s DPW grew 6.7% to $3.33 billion during the year. State Farm Group stayed at No. 3 with DPW of $2.85 billion, which fell 2.1% from the prior year, according to the ranking report. Allstate Insurance Group was fourth with DPW of $1.74 billion in the biggest drop among the top five at 6.9%. USAA Group took the No. 5 spot with DPW of $688.1 million, a decrease of 1.1%.

The report measured 2025 DPW for the top 100 U.S. private passenger auto no-fault writers; percent change from 2024; market share for 2023, 2024 and 2025; adjusted loss ratios for those three years; and auto DPW as a percentage of company premiums.
