2026 Best's Rankings: U.S. Life/Health Industry 2025 Ordinary Life Issued Rose 3.2%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Ordinary life issued for U.S. life/health insurers increased 3.2% to $2.07 trillion in 2025, according to a new Best’s Ranking report.
Northwestern Mutual Group topped the list with $188.27 billion in ordinary life issued, up 3%, as the top four carriers kept their position from the previous year, according to the report. Pacific Life Group moved to fifth-place from 7 the previous year with $106.79 billion in ordinary life issued in 2025 for a gain of 14%.
No. 2 Meiji Yasuda US Life Group issued $164.24 in ordinary life in 2025, a gain of 26.2%. Rounding out the top five were No. 3 State Farm Life Group with $129 billion of ordinary life issued, an increase of 6.5%, and New York Life Group in fourth with its $119.68 up 7.3%, according to the report.
Other gainers in the top 10 included No. 8 National Life Group, which moved up one spot with $85.57 billion in ordinary life issue for a gain of 7%. Protective Life Group also moved up one position to ninth with ordinary life issued of $78.52 billion, a decrease of 1.4%.
Primerica Group dropped to seventh from No. 5 a year earlier as it had $99.91 billion in ordinary life issued in 2025 for a drop of 9.6%. Massachusetts Mutual Life Group fell to 10 from 8 in the prior year as it reporter ordinary life issued of $75.58 billion, a drop of 10.8%.
The three-page report lists the top 100 U.S. writers with 2025 ordinary life issued and the change from 2024.
