2026 Best's Rankings: US Group Comprehensive Premiums Fall 48.0%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Total United States group comprehensive life/health premiums fell 48.0% to $23.47 billion, according to a new AM Best rankings report for U.S. life/health insurers ranked by 2025 group comprehensive hospital and medical premiums for accident and health contracts.
Top-ranked UnitedHealth Life Cos. recorded a 31.9% decline in premiums, while Cigna Life Group's premiums surged 98.2% as it rose to No. 6 from No. 7.
UnitedHealth Life Cos. retained its top spot in the ranking even as its premiums fell to $13.10 billion.
Aetna Life Group rose to No. 2 from No. 3 as its premiums fell 3.2% to $7.89 billion. Third-ranked BCBS of Kansas Cos. moved up from No. 4 with premiums rising 1.0% to $1.24 billion.
Fifth-ranked MetLife Life Insurance Cos. saw its premiums increase 41.6%
The ranking provides 2025 and 2024 rankings for each carrier, premiums for A&H contracts and percentage change.
