2026 Best’s Rankings: Individual Comprehensive Hospital/Medical Premiums Fall 40.2%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - United States accident and health premium contracts fell 40.2% for U.S. individual comprehensive hospital and medical insurers, according to a new Best’s Rankings report.
The sector’s premium contracts totaled $3.83 billion, and the top 25 carriers accounted for a vast majority of that total, the ranking showed.
UnitedHealth Life Cos. retained its leading position in this market, despite premium contracts declining 3.9% to $2.26 billion.
Further, No. 2 Aetna Life Group saw a 7.2% increase to $846.8 million, and No. 5 MetLife Life Insurance Cos. had an 8.6% increase to $78.9 million.
RGA Group, which ranked No. 3, saw premium contracts decline 1.7% to $264.6 million and No. 4 BCBS of Kansas Cos. had a 12.2% decline as premium contracts settled at $246.2 million.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans saw premium contracts decline 84.7%, the steepest decline in premium contracts among the 35 insurers ranked.
