2026 Best's Rankings: US Life/Health Industry Income for A&H Contracts Grows
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. life/health insurers saw disability income 2025 premiums for accident and health contracts increase 5.4% to $30.99 billion, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
Unum Insurance Group retained its perch atop the list, even as its overall premiums for accident and health contracts dropped 16.3% to $3.48 billion, according to the data.
MetLife Insurance Cos moved up one spot to No. 2 from the previous year, as its premiums rose 5.8% to $3.43 billion, according to the report. Hartford Life & Accident Insurance Co was down one position from the prior year at No. 3 with its $3.36 billion, up 0.2% from the prior year.
New York Life Group took fourth place with premium for accident & health of $2.62 billion in 2025, an increase of 1.1% from the prior year. Meiji Yasuda Life Group was fifth with premium of $2.27 billion, up 0.5%, according to the report.
The three-page report ranks the top 100 carriers for 2025 and the prior year, an includes premiums for accident & health, as well as the percentage change from the prior year.
