2026 Best's Rankings: Hartford Becomes a Top 10 P/C Insurer By Asset Distribution
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Hartford Insurance Group moved ahead of American International Group and Nationwide P&C group to become the No. 9 U.S. property/casualty insurer by asset distribution, according to a new Best's Rankings.
Carriers are ranked by 2025 assets. Hartford has $61.31 billion in total admitted assets. Its gross yield on invested assets rose 4.9%, higher than the five largest insurers in the group.
The U.S. property/casualty industry's total admitted assets was $3.26 trillion.
No. 1 Berkshire Hathaway Insurance's gross yield on invested assets improved 0.2% to 3.1% from 2024 but remained below the 5.6% yield garnered in 2023.
Berkshire Hathaway's admitted assets totaled $580.5 billion last year, significantly higher than the $329.8 billion total at No. 2. State Farm Group, whose gross yield on invested assets was 2.7%.
No. 7 Allstate Insurance Group posted the highest gross yield among the 10 largest property/casualty insurers in the group, up 5.8%.
