2026 Best's Rankings: Liberty Mutual Slips to No. 4 in Commercial Multiperil Liability as DPW Drops
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Hartford Insurance Group's U.S. commercial multiperil (liability) direct premiums written increased 12.1% in 2025, moving it past Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. to the No. 3 position, according to a new Best's Rankings.
Hartford's premiums rose to $1.11 billion on the strongest growth rate among the 10 largest writers.
Liberty Mutual's DPW for the line dropped 7.2% to $949.5 million. No. 10 Chubb INA Group had the second-highest rate of increase — 5.9% to $587.7 million.
State Farm Group posted the second-greatest rate of decline in the top 10 group. Its commercial multiperil (liability) DPW decreased 5% to $737.7 million.
Industry premiums for the line rose 3.6% to $22.42 billion.
The report includes 2025 direct premiums written and percentage change, three years of market share and adjusted loss ratios and the percentage share of company premiums for the line.
