2026 Best's Rankings: Travelers Group Atop List of Commercial Multi Peril (Non-Liability) Writers

OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The U.S. commercial multiperil (non-liability) market saw direct premiums written grow 4.7% to $47.63 billion last year, according to a new Best's Rankings report.



Travelers Group retained the top spot on the list, with $3.92 billion in DPW up by 5.8%. It's market share remained unchanged from the prior year at 8.2%. The top five carriers remained unchanged from 2024.

No. 2 Chubb INA Group had DPW of $3.21 billion in 2025, up 4.1%. It's market share of 6.7% was down 0.1 percentage point. Hartford Insurance Group held on to the third-place position with DPW of $2.89 billion, up 12.6% and had a market share of 6.1% in 2025, compared with 5.7% the prior year, according to the report.

Allstate Insurance Group, which was ranked sixth with commercial multiperil (non-liability) DPW of $1.49 billion, saw the sharpest increase among the top 10 carriers at an increase of 19.7%, according to the report. Allstate had been ranked ninth the year before. Its market share grew to 3.1% in 2025 from 2.7% a year earlier.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, which saw the only drop in DPW among the top 10 carriers, moved down one spot to No. 7, according to the report. Liberty Mutual had DPW of $1.41 billion, down 5.3%. Its market share dropped to 3% from 3.3%.

The three-page reports ranks companies based on direct premiums written for 2025 and 2024, as well as includes the percentage change in premiums, market share for 2025, 2024 and 2023, adjusted loss ratios for those years and the percentage of company premiums.
