2026 Best's Rankings: Farmers First-Half NPW Up 12.7% as P/C Industry Sees 2.2% Rise

OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Farmers Insurance Group's U.S. property/casualty net premiums written rose 12.7% in the first half of the year to $11.75 billion, multiples more than the industry's 2.2% rise, according to a new Best's Rankings report.



It was one of just three top-25 writers posting double-digit growth in the period. No. 15 American International Group grew premiums 14.4% and No. 24 CSAA Insurance Group was up 12.2%.

Industry NPW rose to $501.91 billion.

Net premiums written declined at three of the 25 largest writers: No. 12 Nationwide P&C Group, No. 13 Auto-Owners Insurance Group and No. 14 Fairfax Financial (USA) Group.

The largest U.S. property/casualty writer, State Farm Group, saw net premiums written rise 1.1% to $57.1 billion in the first half.

The Best's Rankings are based on submissions from affiliated and unaffiliated U.S. companies and licensed foreign insurers that submitted three-month statutory statements to AM Best by Sept. 1.

The report includes 2026 first half net premiums written, direct premiums written, admitted assets, policyholder surplus and percentage change and key ratios.
