2026 Best's Rankings: Liberty Mutual Remains Top All Other P/C Lines Writer; Market Share Slips
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. remained the top writer of all other lines last year despite a 4.2% decline of direct premiums written, according to a new Best's Rankings.
However, CNA Insurance Cos. dropped to No. 7 from No. 5 a year earlier on a slightly larger decline, 4.5%, to $4.21 billion of DPW.
Liberty Mutual posted $6.38 billion of premiums, lowering its market share to 5.2% from 5.5% in 2024.
No. 99 Omaha National Group moved up 46 positions after premiums rose 160.5% to $190.04 million.
MS&AD US Insurance Group climbed 20 positions to No. 64 on a 61.8% increase in DPW, to $431.84 million.
Industry premiums for all other rose 1.3% to $122.19 billion.
The report includes 2025 direct premiums written and percentage change, three years of market share and adjusted loss ratios and the percentage share of company premiums for the line.
