This year’s dinner paid tribute to Greenberg by making him the recipient of St. John’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Just look at what was created within American International Group, Inc. (AIG),” said Daniel Glaser, president and chief executive officer, Marsh & McLennan, Companies, Inc. “AIG had a culture of innovation in the insurance industry unlike anything the industry has ever seen. Hank was really instrumental in opening up new markets for the entire industry—markets in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and China. So as you can see, AIG was apply named.”
Gregory Case, chief executive officer, Aon, highlighted Greenberg’s leadership qualities.
“This award is really a recognition of his leadership record that is truly unique, unsurpassed and unmatched. Hank’s leadership record is not just about what he has done in business, but also about what he has done within the community, the Starr Foundation, in government, his service to this country, as well as a whole raft of other things. He has been truly collectively great.”
Of the award, Greenberg said, “I am very proud.”
