OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Progressive Insurance Group reclaimed the top spot among all U.S. commercial automobile no-fault insurance writers in 2024, according to a new Best's Rankings report. Industry direct premiums written in the line increased 10.5% to $1.23 billion.

After being deposed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in 2023, Progressive returned to the top spot after a 29.2% increase bumped the insurer to $203.9 million DPW in 2024. Liberty dropped to No. 2, seeing their DPW decrease 2.1% to $180.1 million. It was the only decrease in DPW among the top 10 writers.

American Transit Insurance Co. held steady at No. 3, and Travelers Group held onto the fourth spot, but eight of the top 10 writers found themselves in a different spot than the previous year. Six insurers saw double-digit increases, including American Transit, who rode a 29.4% increase to $115.1 million DPW. Travelers' 13.1% increase contributed to $45.2 million DPW.

The largest increase was Trailblazers Insurance Co. Inc., A RRG's 75.3% growth, helping it into the top 10 at No. 7 with $35.4 million DPW. Coverys Co. also joined the top 10 with $33.4 million DPW. The company didn't write in the line in 2023.

The report includes the company name, rank, 2024 DPW and the change from the previous year, market share and adjusted loss ratio for the last three years, and the percentage of company's premium written for the line.
