Best’s Rankings: US Fire and Allied Industry’s Direct Premiums Written Rise 12.3% in 2020
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - The U.S. fire and allied industry’s direct premiums written rose 12.3% to $53.43 billion in 2020 for the total U.S. property/casualty industry, compared with the previous year, according to a 2021 Best’s Rankings report.
No. 1 Zurich Insurance US PC Group’s 2020 fire and allied premiums rose 13.9%. Among the top 10, No. 3 FM Global Group’s 2020 premiums rose at the greatest rate, up 31.7%. The only insurer among the top 10 whose premiums fell in 2020 was Assurant P&C Group, down 0.8%.
Zurich has 7.3% of total fire and allied market share, followed by Chubb INA Group with 6.2% and FM Global Group with 6.1%.
DPW for the top 100 U.S. fire and allied underwriters rose 12.5% to $50.22 billion.
The ranking report measures fire and allied DPW for the total U.S. property/casualty industry and for the top 25, 50 and 100 insurers.
The information for each company or group in this study also includes percent changes in premiums, market share, adjusted loss ratios and fire and allied as a percentage of total premiums.
