Best’s Rankings: US Ordinary Life Issued Increases 6.9% in 2021
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Ordinary life issued for U.S. life/health insurers increased 6.9% to $1.97 trillion in 2021, according to a new Best’s Ranking.
Northwestern Mutual Group topped the list with $197.91 billion in ordinary life issued, up 20.7%, as the top three carriers kept their position from the previous year while the fourth- and fifth-place holders swapped their respective ranks.
Among the top 25, big gainers included Legal & General America Group, which rose to No. 9 from No. 13; National Life Group, moving to 11th place from No. 14; Sammons Financial Group to No. 14 from No. 18; and Mutual of Omaha Group rose to 22nd from 26th place.
Pacific Life Group fell to 16th from 12th place while AIG Life and Retirement Group fell to No. 13 from No. 10.
The two-page report lists the top 100 U.S. writers with 2021 ordinary life issued and the change from 2020.
