Best’s Rankings: US Ordinary Life In Force Increases 3.2% in 2021
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - There was a shuffle among the top five writers of U.S. ordinary life insurance in force in 2021, as the industry saw an increase of 3.2% of business in force to $36.02 trillion, according to a new Best’s Ranking.
Prudential of America Group maintained its spot at the top of the rankings, despite a decrease of 0.3%, to $2.42 trillion. Northwestern Mutual Group stayed in the No. 2 spot after an increase of 6.1%, to $2.11 trillion.
RGA Group went up one spot, to third, after a 0.8% increase, to $1.79 trillion. Swiss Re Group had the largest increase in the top 25 and moved up from fifth to fourth — an 18.8% increase at $1.77 trillion.
Scor Life U.S. Group rounded out the top five with $1.70 trillion. It dropped from third to fifth after a decrease of 4.8%.
The AM Best ranking measures 2021 U.S. ordinary life business in force, the percentage change and market rank for 2020 and 2021.
