Best’s Rankings: US All Other Lines Direct Premiums Written Increased 10.4% in 2022
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - A 36.9% increase in direct premiums written to $3.54 billion propelled AmTrust Group past Berkshire Hathaway Insurance to the No. 8 spot in U.S. all other lines in 2022, according to a new Best’s Rankings report.
Only three of the 10-largest writers in the category retained their position from the prior year, including No. 1 Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos., which wrote to $6.94 billion in DPW.
Industry direct premiums written increased 10.4% to $112.74 billion.
Chubb INA Group jumped ahead of Travelers Group and CNA Insurance Cos. to No. 2 from No. 4, with a 13% increase in premiums to $5.3 billion.
Zurich Insurance US PC Group also moved two positions higher, ahead of American International Group and Hartford Insurance Group, to No. 5 with a 20.8% rise in DPW to $4.43 billion.
All other lines consist of mortgage guaranty, ocean marine, inland marine, financial guaranty, workers’ compensation, all-perils aircraft, burglary and theft, boiler and machinery, credit, international and aggregate write-ins.
The report includes 2022 direct premiums written, percentage change in DPW and percentage of overall company premiums. It also offers market share and adjusted loss ratios for three consecutive years.
