Best's Rankings: US Commercial Multiperil 2024 DPW Rose 7.6%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. commercial multiperil direct premiums written in 2024 rose 7.6% to $67.13 billion.
The top three writers maintained their places from the previous year. Top-ranked Travelers Group's DPW rose 13.1% to $5.97 billion. For second-ranked Chubb INA Group, DPW rose 7.7% to $3.64 billion. At No. 3, Hartford Insurance Group saw its DPW rise 15.2% to $3.56 billion.
Among the top 10, Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. was the only writer to see its 2024 DPW decline, falling 9.5% to $2.51 billion.
Among top 10 writers that gained in the ranking, Cincinnati Insurance Cos. rose to No. 8 from No. 11 as its DPW rose 12.2% to $1.83 billion. Sixth-ranked Auto-Owners Insurance Group's DPW rose 16.5% to $2.59 billion as it moved up from No. 8.
Nationwide P&C Group saw the largest percentage slide as its DPW fell 29.1%. Nationwide fell to No. 11 from No. 7 in the ranking, with DPW of $1.69 billion.
The ranking measures 2024 DPW; percent change in premiums; market share and adjusted loss ratio for 2024, 2023 and 2022; and the line's percentage of total company premiums.
