Best's Rankings: US Property/Casualty NPW Up 5.3% in Nine Months; Progressive Rises 12.9%
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - U.S. property/casualty net premiums written grew 5.3% to $748.59 billion for the first three quarters of the year. This was outpaced by six of the 10 largest writers, according to a new Best's Rankings.
No. 2 Progressive Insurance Group had the strongest percentage growth among the top 10 writers and was one of four with double-digit NPW increases among the 25 largest U.S. property/casualty companies. NPW rose 12.9% at Progressive to $63.65 billion.
At No. 1 State Farm Group, NPW rose 6.1% to $85.46 billion for the three quarters.
No. 7 Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos. was the sole top 10 writer to post declining NWP, a drop of 4.4%.
At 102.8, State Farm was the only top 10 writer with a combined ratio exceeding 100 for the first nine months of the year.
The report includes 2025 net and direct premiums written, admitted assets and policyholder surplus, percentages of change and ratios.
