Best's Rankings: Athene Admitted Assets Grew 22.1% in 2025, Sharpest Among Top L/H Carriers
OLDWICK, N.J. //BestWire// - Athene US Life Group's total admitted assets grew 22.1% to reach $347.61 billion in the fastest growth among the top 25 carriers in the larger life/health industry, according to a new Best's Rankings report.
The total U.S. life/health industry's admitted assets of about $9.9 trillion at the end of 2025 were up 7% from the prior year, according to the report. Athene was ranked No. 8, with no carrier until No. 30 RGA Group matching or exceeding its growth. RGA saw its $84.29 billion in admitted assets grow 29.3% for 2025.
Prudential of America Group retained the top spot with its $606.33 billion in admitted assets up by 6.7% from the prior year.
Second-place New York Life Group had $479.82 billion in admitted assets and a growth rate of 7.3%, according to the ranking. MetLife Insurance Cos. was third with admitted assets of $430.43 billion at the close of the year, up 3.8% over the 12-month period, according to the report.
While there was no movement in the top five carriers, Corebridge Financial moved up one place to sixth in 2025, with admitted assets of $387 billion up 6.2% from the prior year.
The 14-page AM Best ranking measures admitted assets as of Dec. 31, 2025, as well as the change on a percentage basis.
