AM Best Senior Director Greg Williams appears as the featured guest in the latest episode of What’s on Dec?, a podcast series made available through Canadian Underwriter magazine. Williams discusses AM Best’s thoughts on Canada’s insurance market ahead of the company’s annual Canada Market Briefing in Toronto, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 6.
During the episode, Williams discusses the increasing frequency of weather-related losses for Canada’s insurers, the related impact that inflation is having, and the market’s shift toward the IFRS 17 accounting standards and what that means for insurers. Williams also discusses the delegated underwriting authority enterprise market, which includes managing general agents and other similar entities, and how they bring value across the insurance ecosystem by developing books of business and programs for insurers.
