FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OLDWICK, N.J. - APRIL 20, 2004 12:00 AM (EDT)
A.M. Best Co. has upgraded the financial strength rating to A- (Excellent) from B++ (Very Good) of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of U.S.A. (Association) (Cleveland, OH). The rating outlook is stable.
This rating action reflects the strong bond that the Association has with its members, its more than adequate level of risk-adjusted capitalization, consistently positive statutory operating results and high credit-quality investment portfolio. Partially offsetting these factors are the Association's limited business profile, exposure to interest sensitive fixed annuity business and geographic concentration risk. As a result of the Association's strong risk-adjusted capitalization and continued positive statutory earnings performance, a stable outlook has been assigned to the rating.
Founded in 1892, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association is a fraternal benefit society licensed in 12 states. As a member of the Slovak Catholic Federation, the Slovak League of America and the National Fraternal Congress of America, the Association expends considerable efforts in promoting cultures, heritage and awareness of the nationality.
A.M. Best Co., established in 1899, is the world's oldest and most authoritative insurance rating and information source.
