FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OLDWICK - JANUARY 24, 2017 04:58 PM (EST)
A.M. Best has commented that the under review with positive implications status and the Financial Strength Ratings, Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings and Long- and Short-Term Issue Credit Ratings of Humana Inc. (Humana) (headquartered in Louisville, KY) [NYSE: HUM] and its subsidiaries remain unchanged.
This comment by A.M. Best follows the decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to block Humana’s merger with Aetna Inc. (Aetna). If Aetna and Humana do not appeal the court’s decision, the Credit Ratings (ratings) will remain under review until A.M. Best assesses Humana’s 2016 year-end results and its 2017 financial and capital plans.
Should Aetna and Humana choose to appeal the court’s decision, the ratings of Humana will remain under review with positive implications while A.M. Best conducts discussions with Humana’s management regarding the appeal process and reviews its 2016 year-end results and 2017 financial and capital plans.
